Design and Engineering for Sustainability - providing clients creative “green” solutions to reduce ecological impact and increase the bottom line.
At 6,225′ above sea level and designated as an Outstanding National Water Resource, Lake Tahoe’s crystal clear water sparkles effortlessly under sunlight and moonlight as well. She is truly the jewel of the Sierra Nevada.
With Pastore•Ryan’s offices planted firmly on her northern shore, it’s easy to understand why our work focuses on local environmental quality.
We prefer a whole systems approach to our work. This means that we carefully consider the impacts of our design decisions from first cost (financial and environmental), through life time maintenance and final decommissioning. This is also known as Lifecycle Cost Assessment or LCA.
Innovation and creativity are hallmarks of our approach. We brought pervious concrete to the Tahoe Basin in 2002 and have continued to specify and improve the use of this strategy.
As a licensed civil engineering firm in both California and Nevada, we are legally allowed a wide range of design and engineering activities. From building design and specifications to bridges and stormwater management, our work focuses largely on:
- Water Quality Improvement
- Ecological Design (LEED) for Buildings (commercial, municipal, residential)
- Best Management Practices (BMPs)
- Environmental Assessment of proposed projects
- Integrated landscape and stormwater design
- Energy systems (solar hot water, solar electricity/photovoltaics, wind turbines, geothermal)
- Custom Residential Landscape Design
Our team has diverse talents and our licensure ensures our ability to perform a variety of services.
In our many years (20+ years) in the field of sustainability, we have worked with the following public agencies and private companies toward the common goals of environmental stewardship and social equality and economic prosperity: Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (USDA, NRCS), Nevada Conservation District, Tahoe Center for Environmental Science, Placer County, Town of Truckee, Clif Bar Inc., CalTrans, City of South Lake Tahoe, El Dorado County Department of Transportation, Truckee River Watershed Council, Sierra Green Building Association (SiGBA), Entrix, Integrated Environmental Restoration Services, Tallac Applied Ecology, Sarah Felchlin Design and Publication, Tahoe Quarterly, John Stoumen, Northstar Community Services District, North Lake Tahoe Demonstration Garden, Lake of the Sky Garden Club, Sierra Nevada College, North Tahoe Business Association,
We are always interested in talking with you about your unique project ideas and goals.
